Washington Senate approves bill to allow trapping as management tool (3/7/2003) A bill has passed the Washington Senate that will allow trapping under certain conditions. Trapping was banned in the state by popular vote. Senate Bill 5179, introduced by Senator Bob Oke (R-Port Orchard), would allow the use of traps for population control, scientific research and to solve problems with nuisance wildlife. Trapping was banned in Washington in 2000 when voters believed the campaign of anti-hunting organizations. Landowners across the state are paying the price. Now, legislators have the opportunity to fix the problem. The anti's will fight hard to stop the bill from advancing. To win, Washington sportsmen must contact their state representatives and tell them to support the Senate Bill 5179 in the House of Representatives. Take Action!
