Animal rightists place British royal family, other sportsmen on "hit list" (9/5/2002)

An anti-hunting group posted on the Internet a “hit list” of more than 100 British hunting advocates, including Prince Charles, Prince William and Prince Harry.  It urged supporters to “hunt them down and give them a piece of their own medicine.”

The Urban Alliance had its website blocked after reports of the list surfaced.  The list included the names, addresses and phone numbers of prominent British hunting activists, celebrities and members of the royal family.

The antis’ site said the hunters “deserve everything that’s coming to them.”  One supporter wrote, “The only good hunter is a dead one.”

The Urban Alliance’s list surfaced as sportsmen and farmers prepare for the Liberty & Livelihood March on September 22.  The march will be held to demand that the government safeguard rural people from attacks on hunting with dogs and other field sports, and generally defend the rights and customs of the rural people in the country.

The Countryside Alliance, a London-based group that promotes the interests of rural citizenry, field sports, wildlife management, and an array of countryside concerns, will take part in the protest.  It is warning its members to make sure that their property is secure since the Urban Alliance has urged its members to attack targets in the countryside during the march.

“If you really want to stop the Alliance, don’t go to London to yah-boo them, get out into the countryside and hit them where it really hurts – in their own backyard,” stated a message on the Urban Alliance site.
