Hayward, Wisconsin

Are you looking for a relaxing family oriented vacation destination that also has world class fishing opportunities?  Hayward Wisconsin is the answer.  Billed as the “Musky Capital of the World”, the Hayward lakes area lives up to that reputation, with 50+ inch fish coming from lakes such as Lac Courte Oreilles, Grindstone Lake and the 17,000-acre Chippewa Flowage, which, by the way, is where the current world record musky came from.

Common game fish species in the Hayward area include musky, walleye, northern pike, perch and other pan fish.  Good trout fishing opportunities are also available on the local streams and rivers.  The area is home to dozens of resorts, many golf courses and year-round events ranging from the Lumberjack World Championships to the American Birkebeiner cross-country ski race.

Information on resort accommodations and other attractions such as the National Freshwater Fishing Hall of Fame (http://freshwater-fishing.org) can be found on the Hayward Lakes area website at http://www.haywardlakes.com.
